Texans draft Northern Illinois OT Max Scharping with 55th overall pick

The Houston Texans continue to get younger at the bookend positions of the offensive line.

With the 55th overall pick in Round 2 of the 2019 NFL draft, Houston took Northern Illinois offensive tackle Max Scharping.

The 6-6, 320-pound lineman played all four years at Northern Illinois, a redshirt senior. One of Scharping’s best qualities is his strength.

The Green Bay, Wisconsin, native provides depth along the offensive line for the Texans, and they can pair him with first-round pick Tytus Howard from Alabama State, who Houston took at 23rd overall Thursday night.
