Texans’ Deshaun Watson rises to top-5 of NFL.com’s QB Index

Pro Football Focus lists Houston Texans’ Deshaun Watson as a top-five quarterback, so does NFL.com’s QB Index.

NFL media bumped Watson up four spots from his post-Week 2 ranking, all the way from No. 9 to No. 5. In doing so, he falls just behind Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers.

Said their Tom Blair:

“Watson did it all against the Chargers: plucking a low snap off the ground and firing a TD pass to Darren Fells, turning a sack into a 53-yard touchdown, launching a 37-yarder (which traveled 35.5 yards in the air, per Next Gen Stats) to Kenny Stills even as Joey Bosa was running full steam into his side. His leap into the top five is well-deserved. Can he displace one of the heavyweights in front of him?”

Through three weeks of 2019 play, questions on if Watson is a top-ten quarterback are long gone. With many ranking him in the top-five, the question is how high can he go?
