Texans’ Deshaun Watson is seeing improvement in the offensive line

Not too long ago, the Houston Texans offensive line was the most criticized unit in football. Through four weeks, the group allowed 18 sacks on quarterback Deshaun Watson. In the two weeks since none.

The Texans offensive line consisting of (left to right) Laremy Tunsil, Max Scharping, Nick Martin, Zach Fulton and Tytus Howard didn’t finish the game together, as Howard sustained a knee injury. Even with backup Roderick Johnson in, they kept Watson jersey as clean as Tide ad.

Watson is noticing, and he feels good. “It’s great,” as he said in the post-game press conference while talking about the protection.

“Those guys are continuing to improve and continue to grow each-and-every week,” Watson continued. “You just keep encouraging them and keep on bringing them along and they’re going to do their part. They’ve been doing a hell of a job this year in keeping me upright and I’ve been feeling great the past two weeks. It’s been good.”

Not only did the line help Watson leave the game unscathed, but they also paved lanes in the running game. The Texans finished the outing with 41 attempts for 192 yards and a hat trick of touchdowns. Even better: they beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead, to give themselves back-to-back wins.
