The home of the Combo Loco and the preferred grocery store of Texans from San Antonio to Houston, H-E-B commercials with native sports stars have turned into a sort of Texas folklore. That doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.
As signified by both Deshaun Watson’s and DeAndre Hopkins’ Instagram posts, the dynamic duo is teaming up for 2019’s round of Texans-H-E-B commercials, with an interesting twist: gladiators.
Considering the often goofy wardrobes chosen for H-E-B’s infamous commercials — including a genuinely awful garb worn by Brock Osweiler highlighted by a bolo tie — one shouldn’t be too surprised by the gladiator costumes. But it does raise the question? What is Houston’s favorite QB-WR duo attempting to sell?
If one were to guess, it would likely have something to do with Rome (hopefully), or, in typical fashion, it could be of the exact opposite. Maybe they are dueling in a coliseum (as indicated by Hopkins’ post) for chips and salsa or an ancient-Rome inspired dish?
However, what is known is that Watson and Hopkins really know how to wear gladiator costume.
