Texans DE J.J. Watt says Johnathan Joseph ‘will always be a legend to me’

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt will no longer be teammates with cornerback Johnathan Joseph in the 2020 season, but that doesn’t mean his admiration for him has to end.

The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year took to Twitter Wednesday and expressed his thoughts on the two-time Pro Bowler who leaves the franchise as its all-time leader in interceptions, pass breakups (118), interception return yards (410) and pick-sixes (four).

“Embodies what it means to ‘Be a Pro,'” Watt tweeted with a video of Joseph’s career from the Texans’ official Twitter account under his tweet. “Great player, great teammate, great friend. Will always be a legend to me @JJOE2424.”

Joseph played 14 games for the Texans in 2019 and started in 11 of them. The former South Carolina Gamecock picked off one pass, broke up 13 others, and collected 51 tackles. The Texans finished 10-6, won the AFC South for the second straight season, and beat the Buffalo Bills 19-16 in overtime of the AFC wild-card at NRG Stadium.
