Texans DE J.J. Watt reacts to penalties from 30-23 loss at the Colts

The Houston Texans couldn’t avoid themselves in their 30-23 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

In a game in which questionable officiating seized the day, the Texans were called for 10 penalties for 54 yards. Though the yardage amount isn’t much, the timing is.

Houston forfeited three stopped third-down attempts with penalties. On three instances, the Texans’ defense had the Colts’ offense off the field, only to see that as heresy with Indianapolis moving the chains.

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt won’t sugarcoat his reaction. “I mean it’s not fun, that’s for sure.”

“But you control what you can control and you go out there and try to get after them again and do the best you can,” Watt continued after the loss. “Like I said, we will watch the film and try to get those things corrected because we obviously just can’t be giving away first downs.”

There is nothing Houston can do about the penalties, only move on, work on them and prepare for their Week 8 home game against the Oakland Raiders.
