Texans DE J.J. Watt questions NBC’s ‘High Sky’ camera angle

NBC is trying something new with its camera angles for tonight’s Steelers-Titans preseason game, a camera the network calls “High Sky.”

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt took notice of the new look when he tuned into to watch his brother, T.J., play in the matchup.

On Twitter, all Watt had to ask was: “What is this camera angle?”

J.J., you’re not the only one asking. The rest of Twitter is befuddled with the new camera angle. Which you can see below with a touchdown by the Steelers’ James Washington.

It’s worth noting that the broadcast team eventually stopped using it.

“High Sky” isn’t like anything seen before. It’s a mix of a traditional broadcast view and an “all-22” angle.  In all, the purpose of the new camera angle looks to be an effort to show much more of the field, not just following the ball.

What do you think of it?
