Texans DE J.J. Watt leaves Packers joint practice with tight groin

Houston Texans fans can breathe a sigh of relief as defensive end J.J. Watt emerged from another training session relatively unscathed.

The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year came off the field Monday during a joint training camp practice with the Green Bay Packers. However, according to Watt, this was nothing more than precautionary.

“Groin tightened up just a little bit, so rather than try and push through it and try and do some damage to it, we just shut it down,” Watt told reporters after practice. “I’ve gotten smarter as I got older, so I started listening to the trainers a little bit more than just listening to my own brain.”

2018 marked the first season since 2015 in which the 30-year old had played a full 16-game season, and so the Texans and Watt alike will be keen to keep him healthy after another destructive year in the league in which he racked up 16.0 sacks.
