Texans DE J.J. Watt gives $10,000 to family of fallen firefighter

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt proved to be a great fundraiser in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and the 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year is still as effective.

On Friday, the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year donated $10,000 to the GoFundMe of fallen Appleton, Wisconsin, firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard, the Green Bay Press Gazette reports.

Lundgaard, a 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department, was shot Wednesday after responding to the downtown transit center for a medical emergency. The incident also left a police officer and bystander wounded and the suspected gunman dead.

Watt’s father is a retired firefighter, and fallen firefighters always seem to touch his heart. Last summer, the All-Pro gave $10,000 to the family of Cory Barr, who lost his life in an explosion in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

According to the Green Bay Post Gazette, neither Watt nor his foundation have commented on the donation.
