Texans DE J.J. Watt explains the importance of sleep

As if Houston Texans fans needed another reason to love their star J.J. Watt, he took the podium once more on Wednesday and was asked about the importance of sleep to aid his day to day recovery.

Sleep is nature’s best recovery tool so I try and use it as much as I can.”

The 30-year-old defensive end is well known for his love of sleep, specifically naps. Back in 2015 when the Texans were the featured team on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks,’ Watt showed the world his ‘work bed’ tucked away in a quiet corner of NRG Stadium. Something that remains there to this day.

“I still have my bed in the equipment room so I use that in the middle of the day,” admitted Watt. “At night, as soon as I go home I basically recover my body and then go straight to bed. It gets a little tougher when you wake up at 4:45 every morning, but you find a way.”
