Texans’ David Johnson to play vs. Colts in Week 13

The Houston Texans activated running back David Johnson from the injured reserve list on Saturday in time for him to suit up against the Indianapolis Colts for the Week 13 matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Johnson was placed in the league’s concussion protocol following the team’s Week 9 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and has been on the injured reserve since.

With wide receiver Will Fuller suspended for violating the league’s PED policy, the Texans are low on playmakers. Johnson may not be what he was during his earlier years with the Arizona Cardinals, but he’s a key piece of the offense.

In eight games this season, Johnson has 103 carries for 408 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He also has 16 receptions for 161 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

The Texans offense isn’t one that should scare the Colts greatly even with Deshaun Watson doing everything he can to keep this team relevant. And the Colts will see the return of defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and defensive end Denico Autry from the reserve/COVID-19 list, which helps their chances.

This will be a big game for the Colts, who sit at the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoff picture, but the Texans will try to spoil that with some help from their starting running back.
