Texans could get Tyrod Taylor back for Sunday’s game vs. Rams

The Rams have a favorable matchup with the 1-6 Texans on Sunday afternoon, but it could get a bit more difficult. The Texans are designating quarterback Tyrod Taylor to return from injured reserve Wednesday, opening the door for him to practice.

He hasn’t yet been activated from IR after missing the last five games with a hamstring injury, but it’s possible he’ll be on the field against the Rams on Sunday. That depends on his practice workload and whether he suffers any setbacks this week.

Texans coach David Culley told reporters that Davis Mills will get the first-team reps Wednesday because if Taylor can’t play against the Rams, Mills will remain the starting quarterback. He’s not ruling Taylor out, of course, he just needs to see how the week goes before deciding on a starter.

The Rams are currently favored by 14.5 points, but that line could change if Taylor is announced as the starter for Sunday’s game.
