Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce didn’t touch the ball once when the offense had a first-and-goal from the 3-yard line.
The Texans had an optimistic moment three yards away from the end zone with 14:01 to go in the second quarter leading 3-0 over the Cleveland Browns. The Texans passed three times and handed off once with that lone carry going to running back Dare Ogunbowale for two yards.
The Texans were leading 3-0 and were stuffed.
Coach Lovie Smith told reporters after the game he would have liked to done something in hindsight.
“Hindsight right now, I wish we had done something different,” said Smith. “That didn’t work. Thought we had a good play there. When you go for it on fourth down like that, I felt like we needed a touchdown in that situation. It’s so hard to get down there. We need to be able to convert on those.”
The Texans were able to get a safety after backing up the Browns. However, Cleveland was able to get four turnovers throughout the contest, scoring immediately on two of them, to beat the Texans 27-14.
