Texans coach David Culley says key is to block out noise with Nov. 2 trade deadline approaching

The Houston Texans are 1-6 and figure to be sellers at the trade deadline, regardless of the trade situation with quarterback Deshaun Watson, which is its own fiasco.

Coach David Culley told reporters Monday that the key to keeping his team singular in focus and not worried about who may be dealt at the Nov. 2 trade deadline is to tune out the noise from beyond the walls of NRG Stadium.

“You just said a word that we use all the time: ‘block out the outside, what’s happening and what’s being said,'” Culley said. “Basically, the most important thing is what’s inside this locker room. We don’t ever talk about it. We basically just try to do the things that I just mentioned that we have to get better on.”

The Texans take on the 6-1 Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 31 at NRG Stadium. Houston is trying to snap a six-game losing streak, and Culley knows the secret to doing so.

Said Culley: “Eliminate the penalties, eliminate the big plays and tackling and we do that. That’s all our discussion is and that’s all we ever hear about in our dressing room.”
