Texans claim WR Chad Hansen off waivers

The Houston Texans claimed receiver Chad Hansen off waivers from the New Orleans Saints Friday.

The former New York Jets 2017 fourth-round pick has spent time with the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and Denver Broncos in between his tenures in New York and New Orleans.

The 24-year-old played 15 games with the Jets his rookie season, starting in one game. The former Cal and Idaho State product caught nine passes on 17 targets for 94 yards.

The Jets parted ways with Hansen during the trimming down to 53 men after preseason in 2018. The Moorpark, Calif., native spent roughly a week with New England before being released on Sept. 10.

The Titans signed Hansen to their practice squad on Oct. 2, but he was released on Oct. 15. The Broncos signed Hansen to their practice squad on Nov. 13, and gave him a reserve/future contract on Jan. 2. Denver cut Hansen on May 2.

However, the Saints were the team Hansen spent some of his offseason signing a contract on June 11, where he went to mandatory minicamp.

Given the injury history of Will Fuller and Keke Coutee, the Texans could be evaluating what is on the market in case they have to exercise an insurance option.
