Texans’ C.J. Stroud questionable vs. Colts with right shoulder injury

A potential wrinkle was thrown into the pregame storylines ahead of the Week 2 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans as rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud is now questionable on the final injury report.

The No. 2 overall pick from the 2023 NFL draft popped up on the injury report Friday as a limited participant due to a right shoulder injury. It isn’t clear how severe the injury is or how much Stroud is in danger of missing Sunday’s matchup.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, Stroud didn’t do much at Friday’s practice in order to rest his sore throwing shoulder.

Wilson reported that Stroud is going to try to play against the Colts, but this certainly could have an impact on the outcome. If the rookie isn’t fully healthy, it could hinder the Texans offense in a major way.

Not to mention, they’re already going to be without starting safeties Jalen Pitre (chest) and Jimmie Ward (hip), both of which have been ruled out. Starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil (knee) is also questionable after being downgraded to a limited participant on Friday.

This certainly will be something to monitor over the week leading into Sunday’s matchup. If Stroud can’t play, Davis Mills will be the replacement.
