Houston Texans center-guard Greg Mancz just can’t get any respect.
According to Doug Farrar from the Touchdown Wire, Mancz wasn’t good enough to make the all-practice squad team. Even former Texans tackle David Quessenberry made the squad, but not Mancz.
The former 2015 undrafted free agent from Toledo has been a solid contributor for the Texans, starting in 28 of his 54 games active. In 2016, Mancz played all 16 games at center until Nick Martin took the job the following year. Since then, the 6-4, 302-pound interior offensive lineman has been active for 35 games and started in 12 of them.
Though Mancz may be overlooked when looking at all 32 teams’ practice squads, offensive coordinator Tim Kelly is pleased to keep Mancz in the organization.
“Being able to get Greg back is really good,” Kelly said. “I look forward to continue to work with Greg. I enjoy working with him and I’m excited that he’s back here with us.”
If Martin and starting guards Zach Fulton and Max Scharping are missing any time, the Texans can count on Mancz to fill the void and keep the continuity of the line together.
