Texans begin defense of their AFC South on April 15

The Houston Texans get back to work on April 15 to defend their AFC South title as the NFL announced offseason workout dates for all 32 teams.

Phase one of a NFL team’s voluntary nine-week offseason program, which starts April 15, will only be limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehab.

Phase two is a three-week program where on-field workouts can include individual player instruction, drills, and even team practice. However, there can be no live contact or team offense versus team defense drills.

Phase three is where things really get interesting: Organized team activities, or OTAs. Teams can have a total of 10 days of OTAs. No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.

The Texans’ OTA days are May 20-21, May 23, May 28-30, June 3-4, and June 6-7.

Teams can hold one mandatory mini-camp, and for Houston, it will be June 11-13.
