Texans are seeing ‘good progress’ out of running back D’Onta Foreman

Houston Texans running back D’Onta Foreman flashed signs of potential his rookie season. Rushing for 327 yards and scoring two touchdowns in 2017, many thought Foreman would breakout in 2018.

Tearing his Achilles in his rookie year put a setback in those plans for 2018. Fast forward to the 2019 season and the former Texas Longhorn is ready to get back on the field.

“I’ve seen good progress,” coach Bill O’Brien told reporters Tuesday during the first week of organized team activities. “I think he’s had a very good offseason. He’s worked very hard. Sometimes it takes time, especially when you’re injured your rookie year with a significant injury.”

Foreman spent time away from the game during the offseason, according to O’Brien, and it helped the former 2016 Doak Walker Award winner show up in great shape and good spirits.

“I just talk to D’Onta every single day about being consistent, just like I try to preach that to the team every day,” said O’Brien. “Stringing days together, being as consistent as you can every single day.”

If Foreman can string consistency through the remainder of the offseason and have a healthy training camp, the Texans may start to see the potential of a running back they selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft.
