Texans agree to trade OL Martinas Rankin to Chiefs for RB Carlos Hyde

The Houston Texans have reached a deal to get some help in their backfield.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, The Texans have traded guard Martinas Rankins to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for running back Carlos Hyde. Rankin, who the Texans drafted in 2018 with a third-round pick to play left tackle, was reportedly one of several players waived on Friday prior to the Texans trade with the Chiefs.

Hyde, 28, is joining the Texans after spending the 2018 season as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, following a mid-season trade from the Cleveland Browns. While playing a total of 14 games between both teams, Hyde rushed for 571 yards and five touchdowns on 172 attempts.

A former second-round pick (57th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in 2014, Hyde recorded a career 3,300 rushing yards on 827 carries, and 26 touchdowns in 64 games. His best season came in 2016 where he rushed for a career-high 988 yards as a member of the 49ers.
