Texans add more cornerback help in Briean Boddy-Calhoun

The Houston Texans continue to add to their secondary in free agency.

The latest addition is former Cleveland Browns cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun. The Texans signed the 26-year-old on Friday, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Boddy-Calhoun was an undrafted product out of Minnesota who spent the 2016 offseason and preseason with the Jacksonville Jaguars. After final cuts, the Wilmington, Del., native caught on with the Browns and had a decent rookie season with 40 combined tackles, 11 pass breakups, three interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and 1.0 sack 14 games. His production in the past two seasons hasn’t matched his rookie season with only eight pass breakups, one forced fumble, and 92 combined tackles since.

The Texans have lost four cornerbacks in free agency if Kareem Jackson, who played a little safety in 2018, is also counted as a corner. The other three were Shareece Wright, Kevin Johnson, and Kayvon Webster. With the addition of Bradley Roby and now Boddy-Calhoun, Houston only has two more spots to fill.
