Texans 100: Facts and Figures for Falcons, No. 51-75

The facts continue as we get ready for the Houston Texans hosting the Atlanta Falcons Sunday at NRG Stadium for Founder’s Day.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn is in an exclusive club, and we have the details on that. Plus, this is the second time the Texans have had Shawn Smith as referee. How has he changed since last season’s Week 8 game versus the Miami Dolphins?

51. Quinn is tied with Dan Reeves for the second-most 1-3 starts in franchise history with two.

52. If the Falcons make the playoffs, Quinn would join Reeves and Leeman Bennett as the only Falcons coaches to salvage a 1-3 start into a playoff berth.

53. Quinn is 1-0 against the Texans. The only other coach in Falcons history who is 1-0 against the Texans is Bobby Petrino.

54. Quinn is 3-3 against the AFC South with a 2-1 record on the road.

55. Quinn’s 2-1 record on the road against the AFC South is his second best against the other conference’s divisions:

AFC West: 2-0

AFC South: 2-1

AFC East: 1-1

AFC North: 0-2

56. Quinn is 9-7 in October with a 3-4 record on the road.

57. Quinn is 4-4 in the Central Time Zone with a 3-2 record in the early afternoon time slot.

58. With one playoff win since Super Bowl LI, Quinn is 1/6 coaches among the 19 Super Bowl losing coaches since 2000 to win a playoff game within two seasons after losing the Big Game.

59. The Falcons lead the NFL with 42 penalties.

60. Quinn is 10/18 on challenges for his career with a 0/1 rate in 2019.

61. Quinn has challenged for possible pass interference in 2019.

62. Quinn is 1/3 coaches this season to double up as a coordinator. The other coaches are Bill Belichick as the Patriots’ defensive coordinator, and Kliff Kingsburgy as the Cardinals’ offensive coordinator.

63. Quinn worked with Texans quarterbacks coach Carl Smith with the Seattle Seahawks from 2013-14. Smith held the same position while Quinn was the defensive coordinator.

64. By losing Super Bowl LI to the New England Patriots, Quinn actually did join an elite group of which Belichick is a member. Quinn is 1/5 coaches to lose a Super Bowl both as a head coach and also as a defensive coordinator.
