Tetris filming in Glasgow: City doubles up as Soviet Russia in scenes for Hollywood blockbuster

Glasgow is doubling up as Soviet Russia as filming continues on Hollywood blockbuster Tetris starring Taron Egerton.

The cameras have been rolling in the Tradeston area for the movie, which chronicles the Cold War legal skirmishes over the ownership of one of the world's most-played games.

Morrison Street was transformed into a 1980's era Soviet thoroughfare as scenes were filmed against the backdrop of the old Co-op building as well as at a nearby empty office building.

Vintage Skoda and Trabant cars and a host of Soviet military vehicles were spotted on the road, which has been decked out with Communist Party signage on the side of buildings and a newspaper stand and posters.

Cast members were also spotted dressed as civilians and members of the military wearing authentic Russian hats and clothing.

And a moustached Taron Egerton - who plays Dutch video game designer and entrepreneur Hank Rodgers in the movie - was spied inside an old Moskvich 412 car filming scenes.

The movie is being produced and financed by Matthew Vaughn’s Marv Films, with Aberdeen-born Jon S Baird in the director's chair, following on from his work on 2018's Stan & Ollie and 2013's Filth.

Filming in the city began back in December and is expected to continue until mid-February, with further scenes being shot in the Anderston area.
