Star allrounder Cameron Green already has an eye on next year's ODI World Cup after getting a taste of the action at the T20 showpiece this year.
Green has become an important part of the Australia Test team, and he is building a strong case in ODI and T20 ranks as well.
The 23-year-old was a late call-up for the current T20 World Cup when Josh Inglis injured his hand in a freak golfing accident.
Green only got to play one match - when he scored three in the tight four-run win over Afghanistan - before Australia were bundled out.
But the expected retirement of Aaron Finch could open the door for Green to become a permanent fixture in the T20 side.
Green boasts an average of 54 in his 12 ODIs, and he would love to secure a spot at next year's World Cup in India.
But he knows he has plenty of work ahead of him to lock down a berth in all three formats.
"I don't really feel a part of all three teams yet, I still think I'm on the fringes of a couple," Green said on Thursday.
"If you speak to most people, (the priority) is Test cricket.
"That's what we pencil in at the start of the year, that's what we're looking forward to and that's what we prioritise.
"Then there's a (ODI) World Cup in India that's coming up next year, so you've got to cast your eye there."
Although Green only featured once at the T20 World Cup, he said the experience was invaluable.
The next T20 World Cup will be in the West Indies and the US in 2024.
"Getting called up late, everything felt like it happened in fast forward," Green said.
"It was just a great experience to be out there.
"Unfortunately I didn't do well myself, but we won a game of cricket. Those experiences will be so valuable going forward."
Green has a history of back issues, and he knows it's not sustainable to play every match in every format for Australia.
But he hopes a measured approach will allow him to become a regular in all three formats.
The IPL auction will be held on December 23, and Green said he will "potentially" nominate for it.
"We've got four Tests in India, an ODI series there, and then we've got a World Cup after that," he said.
"I think we have to look at the schedule and decide from there."
Green was at Optus Stadium on Thursday to promote Youth Focus - a leading provider of youth mental health services in Western Australia.
Youth Focus was announced as the charity sponsor for the Perth Test against West Indies, which starts on November 30.
