Testing times but no new COVID-19 cases in the Hunter

Swabbed: Testing clinics are open at most Hunter hospitals.

IT has been more than a month since the Hunter recorded any new cases of COVID-19, despite public health officials "hunting" it via testing clinics.

Confirmed cases of the virus have remained stable at 278 in Hunter New England, with 246 people now considered recovered from COVID-19.

More than 54,100 people have now been tested for the virus in the local health district.

In the Hunter alone - Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Cessnock and the Upper Hunter - there have been more than 39,450 tests.

There are now 18 "active" cases in the area - four in Newcastle, four in Lake Macquarie, one in Cessnock, three in Maitland, and six in Port Stephens.

There are no active cases in the Upper Hunter, according to the NSW Government's "heat map" of COVID-19 cases by post code.

In NSW, there were two additional cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday.
