'Testing' - Nottingham Forest star sends message to Reds fans amid coronavirus suspension

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Watson has sent a message to supporters amid the coronavirus suspension.

All professional football in England is suspended until April 30, at the earliest, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The original suspension ran until April 3, which would have meant Forest’s next fixture would have been against Derby, but following a meeting on Wednesday that has been extended until the end of next month.

This means that Forest now have only one scheduled match until the end of the season, the final-day clash with Stoke City at the City Ground on May 2.

Prior to the suspension, Watson wore the captain’s armband for Forest in the absence of club skipper Michael Dawson, and became a key player in Sabri Lamouchi’s midfield.

The 34-year-old has sent a message to Reds fans, and says he and the rest of the Forest players will be “ready to go” when football eventually resumes.

“I think first and foremost stay safe and look after each other,” Watson told the club’s website.

“It's obviously a difficult period for us all, but we just have to keep listening to the advice out there from Public Health England and the medical professionals.

“Life without football or sport at all is going to be testing but it will return and when it does, myself and the rest of the players will be ready to go.”
