July 24, 2021: Panipak 'Tennis' Wongpattanakit wins Thailand's first gold medal
Panipak makes Thailand proud after edging past European Championship winner Adriana Cerezo Iglesias from Spain in the women's taekwondo in the 49kg category. Tennis brings home Thailand's first medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, first-ever in taekwondo and 10th Olympic gold medal.
July 26, 2021: Tom Daley sends support to LGBTQ youth
British diver Tom Daley celebrated his first gold medal by delivering a heartfelt message of support to young LGBTQ people. "I hope that any young LGBT person out there can see that no matter how alone you feel right now, you are not alone," said Daley. Later on Aug 2, Daly was spotted knitting in the stands while watching the women's diving event.
July 26, 2021: Hidilyn Diaz wins Philippines' first Olympic gold medal
Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz made history after winning a silver medal at the Rio Games in 2016, becoming the first woman from the Philippines to get a medal. This year, she triumphs in the women's 55kg weightlifting event and wins her country's first-ever Olympic gold.
July 30, 2021: South Korean Olympic archer bullied for a haircut
After becoming the first archer to win three golds at a single Olympic Games, 20-year-old South Korean archer An San becomes a target for online bullying in her home country. Her short hair is linked to feminism and hating men. Many jump to An's defence and share photos of their short hair.
July 31, 2021: The World's No.1 tennis player loses control
Novak Djokovic of Serbia is known for his mental strength and dealing with pressure. But Djokovic loses his cool twice during the match against Spain's Pablo Carreño Busta. First throwing his racket into the stands and then smashing the racket against the net post, for which he receives a warning. He goes home without a medal.
Aug 1, 2021: Historic two golds in the men's high jump
High jumpers Mutaz Essa Barshim from Qatar and Gianmarco Tamberi from Italy decide to share Olympic gold. After several attempts to conquer the 2.39m-stage, both athletes are unable to finish. An Olympic official offers to allow them a jump-off to decide the winner, but Barshima asks, "Can we have two golds?". They can!
Aug 3, 2021: Thailand's first female boxer reaches semi-final
Sudaporn "Taew" Seesondee is in tears after defeating Britain's Caroline Dubois in the women's lightweight 60kg quarterfinal boxing match on Tuesday. Taew loses in the semi-final, winning a bronze medal.
