Test your bravery at Glasgow’s ‘hottest’ challenge of the year in a fundraising firewalk

Reckon you can walk over coals up to 1200 degrees fahrenheit? Cancer Support Scotland are giving you the chance to test yourself.

If you’re burning to get involved the charity will be holding the event at the Cancer Support Scotland offices on Shelley Road, on October 21. With a 90 minute training workshop from a firewalking expert, you’ll be well prepared to take on the challenge.

Registration for the event costs £20 per person, which includes the training workshop. Each participant must raise a minimum of £150 prior to the day.

Emma Connor, Fundraising Manager at Cancer Support Scotland, took part in the last firewalk held by the charity. This time, she’s ready for round two - adding: “Walking across five metres of hot coals is definitely our most extreme challenge.

“Trust me, if I can do it, anybody can. It might seem scary, but I can honestly say it is one of the most exhilarating things you will ever experience, and our fantastic wee charity is supporting the wellbeing of people affected by cancer across Scotland.”

Lee Walls, founder of Firewalk Scotland, will run the training session. Established in 2006, Firewalk Scotland has built a reputation for providing exciting events and courses across the country.

The organisation have set out ground rules ahead of any firewalk, to ensure safety of those attending. Participants must be aged 16 or over to take part in the event, and those involved must not drink alcohol before or during.

Additionally, those doing the firewalk are not permitted to have their phone on them. Participants are also asked to take nail polish off around four days in advance.

The firewalk comes after another thrilling fundraiser this month, with Cancer Support Scotland hosting a Zip Slide across the Clyde on September 17. From 150 feet, participants will launch off from a crane next to the Riverside Museum.

More information on the firewalk can be found here.
