Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Season 5 Coming Later This Month

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s fifth season is set to arrive later this month, bringing new features like car selling, construction sites, a redesigned interface, updated wardrobe options, taxi missions, poker and plenty more to explore.

Back in July, the Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown team shared its Year 2 and Season 4 developer diary, giving players a look at what to expect over the next year. Now, they’re diving deeper into Season 5, outlining the features arriving this season and offering a timeline for upcoming updates.

Season 5 is shaping up to be one of the most substantial updates yet. It introduces poker, taxi missions, construction sites, economy improvements and the long-awaited ability to sell cars. Players will also notice upgrades to the game’s UI, lighting, performance and vehicle handling.

The KT Engine has received major improvements this season with new shadows, reflections and water effects across both Hong Kong Island and Ibiza. The lighting team has refined the day and night cycles, giving each island its own atmosphere — from Hong Kong’s dense, urban glow to Ibiza’s warm, vibrant tones.

The UI has also been overhauled with menus now highlighting vehicles and player characters more prominently. Navigation has been improved and subtle design updates make the interface cleaner and easier to use. Event notifications have also been added to help players stay informed while exploring the world.

Season 5 also brings a major rework of the in-game economy. Race payouts have been increased, the FRIM system now rewards time spent driving and clean performance and car selling has been added through an NPC at the Solar Hotel. Construction sites are appearing around Ibiza, hinting at the upcoming housing feature and giving players a sense of how the world will continue to evolve.

Vehicles receive a range of updates this season, including cruise control, bug fixes and refinements to animations and visuals. Live event rewards now include licensed clothing from brands like PUMA and new car liveries, while the mid-season update will introduce an online store offering past rewards, new vehicles and licensed gear. Season 5 is set to arrive later this month with console and PC gameplay previews, a feature showcase livestream and additional teases coming ahead of launch.
