Tess Daly stocks up the fridge after Vernon Kay lost more than two stone on I'm A Celebrity

Tess Daly is on a mission to feed her husband Vernon Kay after he lost more than two stone in weight on I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!

The Strictly Come Dancing host has been shopping and stocked up their fridge and cupboards after the Bolton TV presenter told her he's lost 30lbs during his three weeks in the castle.

The former Family Fortunes host has been living on a diet of rice and beans and evening meals including pigeon, partridge and squirrel which the contestants had to win by completing gruesome challenges.

For his final meal a hungry Vernon was able to choose a prawn cocktail starter, chicken for main then sticky toffee pudding for afters and an interesting choice of cottage cheese with Marmite on toast for a treat.

And the 46-year-old asked for a refreshing cup of tea to wash it all down with.

In a video shared on her Instagram a delighted Tess said: "He wanted to make us proud and he's done that with bells on.

"Yes Vernon the fridge is full."

Tess, 51, from Stockport, posted more clips revealing the treats she's bought for him including bacon, pasta, Yorkshire Tea bags, and a Turkish Delight bar.

"Vern told me he's lost 30lbs in weight!" she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

"So I've been shopping to get some of his fave foods ready for his return.

"Mostly meat, chocolate and of course his favourite Yorkshire Tea bags!"

Vernon had noticed his weight loss since the show launch back on November 15 and it didn't go unnoticed by his celeb campmates at Gwyrch Castle.

Giovanna Fletcher and Jessica Plummer said they thought Vernon was looking 'really narrow.'

Talking in the Telegraph former Family Fortunes Vernon said: “I look in the mirror and I’m like 'come on, I'm wasting away' but it is what it is."

The dad of two said he'll be sure to make up for the rice and beans with extra helpings of festive treats over Christmas.

"Christmas is around the corner," he said.

"It means I can have an extra portion of turkey, roast potatoes, broccoli, sprouts, carrots, turnips, swede, gravy, Yorkshire pudding Christmas pudding, custard … all of that."

Tess previously said she had been worried about her husband 'not eating' in the castle.

Vernon came in a very respectable third place on the ITV reality contest, which was this year set in Wales instead of Australia because of COVID-19.

In second place was Radio One DJ Jordan North and author and podcaster Giovanna was crowned the Queen of the Castle.
