Tess Daly shares powerful message as she celebrates her 50th birthday

Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly has wowed fans by sharing a holiday snap and some inspirational words to mark her 50th birthday.

The TV presenter from Stockport posted a photo of herself on Instagram in a white bikini top and pink shorts holding balloons on a beach in the Maldives - and she told fans that she'll 'never regret getting older.'

The mother of two, who celebrated her landmark birthday last month, was flooded with compliments and birthday wishes from followers.

She wrote: "I got to celebrate my (biiiig!) birthday soaking up the sunshine in the beautiful Maldives; which felt like the perfect place to also celebrate feeling another year older, wiser and more grateful because as you mature you understand more that it’s not about what you own - or what you look like but so much MORE about the people you love and the person you’ve become."

She added: "And one thing I’ll never regret is growing older as it’s a privilege denied to many. Sending happy Saturday vibes to you all and lots of love XXX."

Love Island presenter and former Strictly winner Caroline Flack commented: "Gorgeous! Happy birthday."

And Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid said: "You look and are beautiful."

One follower said: "Tess this really has got me thinking. I’m not a fan of getting older but you have just turned that on its head, it’s a privilege that not everyone gets, in all my years on social media nothing has been as thought provoking as that comment. Thank you."

Another said: "No way are u 50! There must be a mistake."

And another wrote: "Do you know I’ve said this so many times to people who moan about getting older, it really is a privilege denied to many many others who have and will have their lives cut short.

"Revel in each passing year, embrace age, wrinkles and wisdom...many would give anything for that privilege."

Tess, who is married to fellow TV presenter Vernon Kay, has presented the BBC dance show Strictly since 2004, with Bruce Forsyth and Claudia Winkleman.

The former model was in two Duran Duran videos and appeared nude in the video for The Beloved's 1993 song Sweet Harmony.
