Tess Daly 'devastated' after accidentally killing her family's dog

Tess Daly has been left 'heartbroken' after accidentally running over her pet dog.

The Stockport-born TV presenter said Maltese Shih Tzu Minnie escaped from her home before the tragedy.

The accident happened as the Strictly Come Dancing host returned home in her Range Rover and Minnie ran under her front wheels, she said.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Tess said: "I'm devastated by this terrible accident.

"It's a dog owner's worst nightmare.

According to the newspaper, the 49-year-old was unaware the six-year-old dog had escaped from the house and did not have time to react.

The accident has also devastated Daly's husband, TV host Vernon Kay, from Horwich, and their daughters, aged 14 and nine.

The incident happened last month, days before the family were due to fly to the Maldives.
