Tess Daly called out by Strictly fans - 'you're not a judge'

Strictly Come Dancing was missing a regular judge on Saturday's show and some viewers thought that presenter Tess Daly had stepped in.

Even though West End star Cynthia Erivo was replacing Craig Revel-Horwood who has Covid, Daly made a comment about one of the contestants that some viewers thought should only come from the four judges.

After Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu had performed the jive to Footloose in Musicals Week, Daly said: "There was a mistake, but they loved it over there."

On twitter, some people responded to say that Daly should not have pointed out the error.

Barbara Gubbins said: "I’m not sure it’s up to Tess Daly to point out mistakes - that should be left to the experts."

Sister Akua: "Ah didn’t know Tess was sitting in for Craig tonight? Please can you let the judges point out any mistakes?"

Carole said: "I'm not impressed that Tess Daly immediately said that Rhys had made a mistake. That's her opinion, she's not a judge. Our lovely Sir Bruce Forsyth wouldn't have said it. Well my opinion is that she should stay please quiet."

Elliot Gonzalez said: "Tess Daly pointing out Rhys’ mistake because why?"

The scored 32 with each of the judges, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, Shirley Ballas and Erivo, scoring them eight points each.

Tilly Ramsay fought back from the dance-off last week to climb to the top of the leaderboard on Strictly Come Dancing with a perfect score of 40.
