Tesla has launched the six-seat Model Y L in China, with a starting price of RMB 339,000 ($47,180). Tesla stock FEll slightly Tuesday morning.
The Model Y L is 4,976 millimeters in length, 1,920mm in width, 1,668mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,040mm. It's the last two dimensions that are larger than the refreshed five-seat Model Y, which is 4,797mm in length, 1020mm in width, 1,624mm in height and with a wheelbase of 2,890.
That may provide enough room to make the third row of seats more comfortable for many adults. But the Model Y L will compete with a variety of six-seat electric SUVs, notably the upcoming Nio Onvo L90, with much-roomier third rows.
People in China who order the new Model Y variant can expect deliveries in September.
The Tesla Model Y L has been expected for some time, with the larger wheelbase confirmed last month in a China regulatory filing. On Monday, Tesla said on China social media that the Model Y L was "coming soon."
Tesla's China local sales have fallen in 2025, even with the refreshed Model Y released earlier this year.

Tesla stock fell 1.2% to 331.25 Tuesday morning, reversing lower as the Nasdaq skidded. Shares rose 1.4% on Monday, climbing from near the 200-day moving average. Shares have a 367.71 consolidation buy point. After Tuesday, TSLA stock could have a handle with a lower entry of 348.98.
