Tesla CEO Elon Musk's Grand Model 3 Goals Could Be Ruined by These 5 Rival Cars

Tesla (TSLA)  and founder Elon Musk are all about new ideas, and electric cars are a big part of their grand plans. But Tesla is far from alone in selling electric vehicles, better known as EVs.

On the high end, BMW and Mercedes-Benz could offer stiff competition to Tesla in the future. Thrifty folks may go for models from Ford (F) and Nissan, whereas General Motors'  (GM)  electric car has a higher base price than Tesla's.

Tesla's Model 3 electric car starts at $35,000, before incentives. The company claims it travels for at least 215 miles without a charge and goes from standstill to 60 mph in 6 seconds.

Buyers of all electric vehicles in the U.S. may be eligible for a $7,500 tax credit from the federal government.
