A terrified supermarket worker has slammed bosses for keeping the store open they work in open despite a covid outbreak forcing 35 colleagues to self-isolate.
The disgruntled worker, who asked to remain anonymous, said he is scared of catching the virus at work.
He has called on bosses to close the store in Beverley should immediately close for a deep clean after two workers tested positive and he is afraid of returning to his workplace.
He told Hull Live : "Staff are scared to go back to work. The store needs a deep clean, especially with the amount of staff with the virus, but nothing is being done.
"I think, and others agree, that it should close for one or two days to clean it. We keep getting told that measures are being put in place but nothing happens.
"Who knows what is going to happen in the next week?"
He added that shop workers were the "forgotten heroes" of the pandemic, adding that the latest outbreak there is the worst they have had.
"It's been a nightmare, I am scared to death of catching the virus.

"We have been quite lucky up until now, but this has brought it too close to home. I think the company needs to do more to put our minds at ease.
"Customers are not following the 'Hands, Face, Space' rule now.
"I am hoping masks will have to remain in place, I wear mine religiously. But customers are not following the guidance now and that worries me."
A Tesco spokeswoman said: “A small number of colleagues at our Beverley store are isolating after two of the team tested positive for Covid-19.
"The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are working with local public health authorities, following all Government guidance and taking the relevant precautions.
