Tesco worker shares 'worst' comment customers make at the tills

A Tesco worker has shared one of the most "annoying" things customers say to her, and many of us are guilty of uttering it.

Holly Dixon, who works on the tills in the supermarket, shared a clip on TikTok explaining the one phrase that really rubs staff up the wrong way. She said she hears it "at least 10 times each shift".

In the clip, posted to her @hollydixon2112 account, she explained the first thing she hears every day is customers telling her they "only came in for one thing", despite having what seems like "the whole shop" in their trolley, according to the Manchester Evening News.

She also said she isn't fond of customers who say she "looks bored" and state they're going to "give her something to do" by choosing her till for their shopping. She said: "I was happy chilling and counting down the minutes until I finish."

But the one phrase that really makes Holly "cringe" is a joke people make whenever an item doesn't scan. "Oh, it's not scanning? It must be free". Holly was clearly not impressed.

In the comments, some people shared their own experiences with working in supermarkets as they quoted other popular phrases that customers use whenever they're at work. One person said: "I get asked if I'm worried about losing my job if they use the self-service till."

While another added: "Or they ask for a lottery ticket and then go 'the winning one would be good' when you ask what one they want." And others admitted they've definitely used these common sayings at least once, with one user posting: "I hold my hand up that I'm probably one of these people that say these things."

While Holly might poke fun at the customers she sees while working in Tesco, she defended her job in the comments when someone suggested it was "time for a job change", as she said: "I love my job."
