Tesco worker rushed to hospital in Dublin after sickening attack in Inchicore store

A staff member of a Dublin supermarket is recovering after he was attacked in the store this morning.

The man was working in Tesco Express on Tyrconnell Road, Inchicore when he was attacked at around 11.30am.

Several garda cars and an ambulance raced to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital where he is believed to have had surgery on his hand, Dublin Live reports.

A number of fridges were also smashed in the incident and the store remained closed for most of the day while they were repaired.

A garda spokesman said a man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He said: "Gardaí at Kilmainham are investigating an assault at a retail premises this morning, Tuesday 23 June 2020, a male employee of the premises was assaulted.

"He received minor injuries. A male in his 30s was arrested in connection with this investigation."
