Tesco website and app down as customers reports issues with their shopping

Tesco customers are reporting issues after the company's website and app crashed due to an unknown bug.

The retailer posted on Twitter on Saturday : "We're experiencing an issue with our website and app and are working hard to get things back up and running. We apologise for any inconvenience."

The issues are still persisting on Sunday morning, with both the website and app remining down.

The company Tweeted the following at 7.30am on Sunday: "Hi, thanks for getting in touch. We’re currently experiencing issues with our website that’s affecting all of our customers right now. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused and our IT teams are working really hard to fix the issues as a priority. Please try again later."

A shopper first complained of the issue to the retailer in the early hours of the morning, however they were told by Tesco they were unaware of any issue and to check their device or browser, Wales Online reports.

Tesco has since updated this line and an error message is displayed when attempting to access their services.

One customer wrote on Twitter: "I need to edit my shop for tomorrow (currently all it is is a banana) I always edit the shop the day before.... can I get a full refund if your system isn't back up and running? Or do I have to pay £4.13 for one banana."

According to Downdetector, a service that monitors service outages, hundreds of reports of problems have been received

The website has been down since 9am on Saturday, and there is currently no timeframe for the issue to be fixed.

Many customers are now cancelling their standing orders with Tesco as they are unable to amend them online prior to them being delivered.

Despite the website having now been down for 24 hours, Tesco has said via Twitter that they still do not have an ETA for when the problem will be fixed.

Almost 24 hours since Tesco first acknowledged the issue and both the website and app are still down. A spokesperson for the company said they are trying to fix this "as a priority".
