Tesco issues warning to shoppers over Clubcard points

For many Tesco Clubcard holders, collecting points is a way of life.

Adding points to your card at the checkout comes as naturally as riding a bike, and you've probably found yourself doing it without realising on various occasions.

What doesn't come so naturally is remembering to actually spend the points - something which can be problematic when any sort of expiry deadline is looming.

Now Tesco has issued a warning to shoppers, telling them in an email that they are currently able to collect double Clubcard points - but only until Monday 24 August, reports the ECHO.

Until Monday, shoppers will just need to scan their Clubcard app in store to pick up double the points. The points will then show on the app within five-seven days.

It means customers will be able to get double the points of their usual shop.

The UK's cheapest supermarket chain for your weekly shop has been revealed

Customers will need to download the app if they do not already have it on their smartphone and scan that rather than the card itself.

The Tesco Clubcard scheme is one of the UK's most popular loyalty programmes. Clubcard members collect one point for every £1 spent in-store and one point for every £2 spent on fuel.

Every 150 points collected is worth £1.50 to spend in-store or online, but can be worth up to three times as much when spent through Tesco's reward partners, which include Virgin Atlantic and Pizza Express.
