Tesco updates shoppers on face mask rules for every UK supermarket as lockdown restrictions set to ease

Supermarket giant Tesco has updated customers on its rules for wearing face masks in stores now lockdown restrictions have started to lift.

Over the past few weeks, the retailer has seen an increase in shoppers attempting to enter stores without face masks.

As a result, the supermarket has received several complaints.

However, Tesco has made it clear that its rules remain in place, and all shoppers are still required to wear a face mask when shopping in stores - unless exempt.

In a statement, a Tesco spokesperson told Birmingham Live : "Since the start of the pandemic, we have focused on ensuring everyone can get the food they need in a safe environment.

“To protect our customers and colleagues, we won’t let anyone into our stores who is not wearing a face covering, unless they are exempt in line with Government guidance.

“We are also asking our customers to shop alone, unless they’re a carer or with children. To support our colleagues, we will have additional security in stores to help manage this.”
