Tesco to trial one-hour grocery home delivery service which could be rolled out across the UK

Tesco is trialling a delivery service which will send groceries to customers' homes in just one hour.

The supermarket has long offered home delivery, but had yet to follow its rivals by setting up a rapid delivery service, as the likes of Co-op, Morrisons, Asda and Aldi operate with Deliveroo or Uber Eats.

Tesco will initially trial its Whoosh delivery service at one store, in Wolverhampton. The idea could be rolled out across the UK if it proves successful.

Tesco said customers will now be able to order on-demand via its app or Tesco.com, with products delivered by bike, moped or car, with a £5 delivery fee.

Chris Poad, online managing director at Tesco, said: “Customers are telling us that they would welcome the addition of a 60-minute delivery to their door option as part of our online grocery service.

“We’ll use the pilot to understand how Whoosh could work best for both our customers and our colleagues.”
