Tesco brings back Clubcard sale with 500 items now included in Aldi price match

Tesco has relaunched its Clubcard sale - offering customers discounts on their shop when they swipe their loyalty card at the till.

The grocer said Clubcard customers will be able to access hundreds of deals on branded and own brand products by scanning their Clubcard App, Clubcard or fob at the checkout or when shopping online.

The scheme, known as 'Clubcard Prices', will offer discounts on products such as Carte D’Or, Birds Eye, and McCain.

Tesco said around 200 frozen products will be included at launch, with more products across other categories added over the coming weeks.

The supermarket giant said its also added 500 items to its Aldi price match campaign to help save customers money on their everyday shop.

Alessandra Bellini, Tesco chief customer officer, said: "We know that great value matters to customers more than ever before, that’s why, to reward our loyal customers, we’re offering everyone with a Tesco Clubcard access to hundreds of exclusive deals.

"We’re also offering everyday low prices on hundreds of products so that customers can get clear and consistent prices on the products they buy regularly."

Clubcard Prices were first introduced as part of Tesco’s Centenary celebrations in May 2019.

The latest discount scheme will be rolled out online and in all stores excluding Express stores from September 15.

The discounts will vary from 10% to 50% off selected items.

When you shop in store, products included in the campaign will be marked with a promotional label.

Online, all items with a Clubcard price will be highlighted in a blue box displaying the 'regular' and Clubcard price.

If you have a Tesco Clubcard, remember to scan your card at the till to redeem the discount.

If you're shopping online, the discount will be added at the checkout and will be displayed on your receipt.

If you don't have a Clubcard, it's worth signing up as it's free - you can do this via the Tesco website or by downloading the Clubcard app.

But bear in mind that the discounts don't necessarily mean those are the best prices on offer.

If you're doing a food shop, always scout around for the cheapest prices, especially on branded items.

For fruit and veg, you may find it cheaper to invest in a wonky veg box - Lidl stock these for £1.50, but they sell out incredibly fast. Morrisons also offer them for £3.50 though the Too Good To Go app which allows you to reserve one before collecting it at your local store.

Shoppers can also get £5 off at Lidl over the coming months with the launch of the grocer's new Lidl Plus app.

The new scheme, available to download as an app, offers weekly coupons and scratch cards when you spend £20 in store.

Each week, customers will also get new single-use coupons to use on their next shop - with some discounts of up to 25% on selected products.

Shoppers can also use the app to store all their digital receipts in one place, as well as browse weekly leaflets and seasonal magazines on the go.

It marks the first time Lidl has ever launched a loyalty scheme.

Christian Härtnagel, chief executive at Lidl GB said: "Our customers know that we offer the best quality products at market leading prices. We've designed Lidl Plus so we can provide an even better, tailored, shopping experience for our customers, as well as to thank them for their loyalty."
