Tesco shoppers stunned as Fruit 'n' Fibre is so expensive it has security tags

Tesco shoppers were stunned to spot Fruit 'n' Fibre cereal on sale for £7 - so pricey some boxes even had SECURITY TAGS.

Oli Headley, 32, was in his local Tesco on Whitecross Road in Hereford, Herefordshire, yesterday when he saw the cereal-sly expensive 500g boxes of the breakfast snack.

Oli claims he was in such "disbelief" he asked a member of staff to run the cereal through the till - for it to still show up as costing £7.

On the Tesco website a larger 750g box of the same Kelloggs Fruit n Fibre costs just £3.

Even more mysteriously, when Oli contacted the supermarket chain on social media, they told him that according to Tesco’s systems, they don’t even sell the 500g boxes.

Oli, who runs his own business, said: “A friend of mine works in the store and he was stood there staring at it in disbelief.

“He ran it through the till and it actually came up as £7.

“I don’t know how it’s happened. It’s strange. Other people have seen the same thing so it must be quite nationwide.

“It’s not just local to me, it’s quite a nationwide c**k up I would think.

“Tesco did reply to my message saying they don’t have it on their system that they sell the 500g box which is a bit strange.

“It is a bit odd. It almost makes me tempted to go back and buy one.”

Another shopper, Brandon John, from London, also contacted Tesco on social media as he spotted the same £7 boxes of Fruit n Fibre in his local store, complete with security tags.

Brandon asked the supermarket: “How come you are charging nearly four times of other retailers for the Fruit n Fibre?

“Even the store know they are expensive hence the security tags on them.”

Tesco has been contacted for comment.
