Tesco shoppers in stitches over awkward mistake on sign in bakery aisle

A Tesco bakery sign has gone viral after shoppers spotted an awkward mistake.

The unfortunate error was spotted on a sign alerting shoppers about the lack of baked goods due to a shortage of staff.

In the last year or so, us Brits have battled toilet roll and petrol shortages – with companies having to say sorry in the most British way.

With the classic line usually reading: “Apologies for any inconvenience".

But Tesco employees accidentally mixed up the words "inconvenience" and "incontinence", much to customers' amusement.

The sign read: “Sorry, no bakery due to staff shortage. Apology for any incontinence.”

The A4 sign hung on the shelf – attached with some yellow and white tape amongst the empty trays - says the Daily Star.

According to the NHS website, incontinence is defined as the "unintentional passing of urine" with it being a "common problem thought to affect millions of people".

An eagle-eyed supermarket shopper spotted the mistake and posted the sign gaffe to Reddit.

They titled the post: “The floors were a bit sticky to be honest.”

Tickled by the spelling error, people fled to the comments to jump in on the supermarket mishap.

One person joked: “Tesco really are taking the p***.”

Another user added: “Only a single apology as well."

A third noted: “God I hope that was intentional.”

Someone else stated: “Tesco bakery is wild.”

A Tesco spokesperson said: “A very unfortunate but amusing typo – we are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused though.”
