Tesco shoppers have a unique way to cut their Android and iPhone data bills

The average phone user spends hundreds a year keeping their smartphone connected to a UK network, and that's just for one person. Now, Tesco Mobile is offering families a huge saving, as it slashes the price of its unlimited data SIM to just £14 a person.

If the cost of a single phone or data plan amounts by hundreds a year you can imagine the chunk it takes out of households who pay for more than one phone bill. Whether it's for your teenage children, a bill for you and your partner or a plan for your flatmates, Tesco's latest price drop includes a huge saving for those who 'bulk buy'.

It's all thanks to its Unlimited Data Family Pack which one shopper can buy at first for £30 a month, the more family members added the cheaper it gets. Those who add the maximum number of five to the plan will cut the cost to just £14 per person, paying just £10 extra each month to add another user.

All in all it's a collective saving of more than £80 a month or a £16 saving per person, whichever way you look at it for those who add on the maximum number of five people. All users get access to unlimited data, texts, calls and

Not only is it a 'hidden loophole' for families to save on multiple phone bills, but its the same price as Tesco's single-use Unlimited data SIM-only plan, so there's no hidden or added fee for the potential benefit of saving money if you have a person to add to the plan (even in the future).

That's the next perk. Tesco allows customers to add another user to the plan at the end of each rolling month, so even if you take the deal out on your own for £30 a month, you could reduce the cost at any time down the line. The plan starts at £30 a month for one user, reduces to £20 a month each for two, £16.67 a month each for three, £15 a month each for four and £14 a month each for a maximum of five people.

If there weren't enough perks to this deal already we've got one more that makes the plan a good investment for intrigued tech shoppers, in our opinion. The Family Pack plan is on a month-to-month rolling basis, so if you find it doesn't work for you or your household you can leave at the end of the month with no hidden fees.

How does the price compare to rival SIM providers?

Making the most out of Tesco's offer will be for shoppers who add the full five members onto their plan, taking the price down to £14 per person for a full unlimited SIM plan. Having a look at current SIM-only deals on the market it's the cheapest price we've seen.

Having had a scour at Uswitch's latest Unlimited data SIM deals SMARTY and ID Mobile are the next in line when it comes to price, at £16 a month per user. To clarify this isn't on a family plan, just what users would pay per contract. Next up is Three Mobile with its £18 a month Unlimited SIM plan, although users here are tied into the deal for 24 months.

O2, Vodafone and GiffGaff sit at the higher end of the price range as users here would pay between £31 to £35 a month for the same unlimited amount of data.

The Mirror Choice backed perks to getting Tesco Mobile SIM deal

  • Link purchases to supermarket Clubcard points
  • Family data plans, meaning one bill for whole household
  • Add a £5 safety buffer to each user to limit overspending

Here on the Mirror Choice team we look at deals from plenty of mobile phone and tech providers, so finding the best competitive price can sometimes be a tricky task. Amid it's money-saving deals, like offering the S23 Ultra for £486 cheaper than anywhere else, there's a handful of benefits thrown in to buying a mobile plan throught the supermarket.

Starting off with its supermarket reward points of course, through Clubcard. Regular weekly shoppers at Tesco can use any Clubcard points accumalated towards getting money-off tech items. Those who buy the Family Perk Plan will also get 100 Clubcard points, which are added at the online checkout.
