Tesco have been flooded with at least 500 complaints after frustrated shoppers found themselves unable to buy food.
The supermarket giant was forced to apologise to customers on Thursday (September 7) evening when a technical error left them unable to process or amend their baskets online, reports Manchester Evening News.
Issues with the website were reported to have begun around at around 11am yesterday, with users taking to social media to send complaints to the company after finding they could not complete their purchases.
Others also reported difficulties with booking a delivery slot.
One person tweeted: "Your website for online orders is broken again. Every time I try to amend an order by adding items, it does it then immediately removes them.

"Similarly when removing items, they are removed and added back in again. And yes, I have tried logging out and deleting cookies."
Another person said: "Is there a problem with the app/website at the moment? It’s telling me it can’t update my basket. Looks like others are having similar issues. Do you know when the problem will be fixed please?"
One customer also expressed how fed up they were with the problem, writing: "I'm online and logged in but I can't book a slot or add anything to my trolley. Tried with 2 browsers. Is something wrong? #hungry."

Tesco later confirmed that these issues were the result of a technical error, and tweeted: "There's currently an issue with the website that is stopping customers being able to complete basic functions such as booking a slot, checking out an order and amending orders."
Just last month, Tesco customers were left furious after claiming the supermarket suddenly cancelled all home deliveries without warning.
Shoppers calling up Tesco say they got an automatic message that said: "Due to technical issues we’ve had to cancel all orders after 1pm.
"If your order was due after 1pm you have not been charged. We’re unable to reschedule these orders."
The Mirror has contacted Tesco for comment on the technical error.
