Tesco shopper assaulted after man tries to snatch his Mercedes keys in car park

A Tesco shopper was assaulted by a man who tried to snatch the keys to his Mercedes in the car park of a busy supermarket.

Merseyside Police were called to the Tesco Woolton on Allerton Road at around 12.05pm on Sunday, July 14 to a report a man snatched a set of car key's from his victim's hands as he approached his black Merecedes.

Following a struggle, the offender ran away on foot in the direction of Dairy Mews Flats - chased followed by his victim.

The suspect then assaulted the victim, causing injuries to his shoulder and face, before running away from the scene.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, called for help from local residents and police were called out to respond.

Merseyside Police are now appealing for information following the attempted car snatching in the middle of the busy supermarket car park.

A brief statement shared with the ECHO said: "The offender is described as white, in his mid 20s, 5ft 7in tall, and of slim build. He had short styled brown hair with a short beard and was wearing a white button shirt with navy trousers and a light blue jacket."
