Tesco sends urgent message to Clubcard holders about their points

Tesco Clubcard holders have been sent an update by the supermarket giant over vouchers that were set to expire.

Since lockdown came into force, shopping habits have changed, seeing people who used to drop into Tesco stores on the way to or from work no longer visitng.

Research conducted for Mirror Money by money.co.uk showed 28% of people who used to visit the chain say they now no longer do.

Tesco itself reported that visits to the chain have halved since lockdown - although basket sizes have doubled after people were advised to shop as little as possible.

With delivery slots stretched too, that means people with Clubcard vouchers could well be struggling to spend them before they expire.

Tesco understands this, and has issued a statement to shoppers confirming that Clubcard points due to expire this month will be extended, ManchesterEveningNews reports.

Zoe Evans of Tesco's customer engagement centre said: "We appreciate that, for many reasons, most of us aren’t shopping as often as we did before lockdown.

"As a little help from Clubcard, we want to give you more time to use your vouchers which were due to expire on 31 May 2020.

"Any vouchers issued in May 2018 will now not expire until 30 November 2020, giving you an extra 6 months to use them.

"We'll update the expiry date on your digital vouchers, and we'll continue to accept paper vouchers in-store until the extended expiry date.

"We really hope it helps, and take care."
