Tesco has issued a warning over low stock as it urged panic-buyers to 'shop as normal' in the run-up to Christmas.
The supermarket giant said it could be hit with 'reduced supply' on a fresh items later this week after borders closed, such as lettuce, cauliflower and citrus fruit.
Tesco reassured customers it is 'working hard' to ensure families get Christmas food as it urged households not to panic buy, The Mirror reports.
It comes after shoppers were pictured queuing at Scottish supermarkets on Monday following France's decision to close its borders amid a new strain of coronavirus.

France has also banned hauliers crossing the Channel, sparking fears about the impact of goods being able to come in and out of the country.
A statement from Tesco said: "We've been building our stockholding of key products ahead of the Christmas peak and are working closely with our hauliers and suppliers to continue the supply of goods into our stores.
“We’re doing everything we can to limit the impact for our customers.”
The supermarket giant is looking at using ferries directly from Spain and increasing stock from the UK to deal with the disruption.

But it warned that "there may be reduced supply on a few fresh items, such as lettuce, cauliflower and citrus fruit later this week, but we don't expect any problems with availability on these lines today or tomorrow".
It comes as Nicola Sturgeon has said there is “no need” for panic buying amid concerns of the impact of international travel bans on the UK.
A range of countries have imposed restrictions on passengers from the UK in a bid to stop the spread of a new Covid-19 varaint.
Speaking at her daily briefing on Monday, Nicola Sturgeon said: “We have been assured by supermarkets that they are well stocked for Christmas, so there is absolutely no need for people to buy any more than you normally would.
“I would ask everybody to please support each other and shop responsibly.”
